DIGITAL MODES

Hams in Coastal Plains Amateur Radio Club are learning more about the mode SSTV and Digital SSTV. We can be found on 146.52 most nights and if operating SSTV  we move to 146.55 to coordinate as we send pictures on one of the HF SSTV Frequencies. We have been on 21.340 the designated SSTV frequency for 15 meters. We are using EZPAL, SSTVPAL, AND HAMPAL for digital high resolution sstv. We use MMSSTV for the analog sstv. If your in the South Georgia Area and are interested in the digital modes or would like to learn, join us on 146.52 or 146.55. You may email K4KV, W4KN, KF4BI, OR WD4LYV using the email listed in the club roster. We want to hear from anyone interested.

MMSSTV is the analog software for standard sstv modes . Get MMSSTV Ver 1.11G  MMSSTV111G.exe . The home page is here.

For the digital sstv visit the http://www.kb1hj.com/vk4aes.html web pages.

There are a number of digital modes in the amateur radio hobby. CPARC members have always had a strong interest in the different digital modes. With the strongest activity in packet radio since its beginnings about 1985. Members of CPARC were the first to put packet radio online in south Georgia and among the first 10 in Georgia. The packet mode is used in a number of areas of amateur radio. One of the most popular uses for packet today is for APRS or Automatic Position Reporting System. Using aprs, stations can see the location of the transmitting stations on a detailed map. We have an easy to use form to check out reported aprs activity in your area from the national APRS database. Using your sound card to try many digital modes is easy with simple, in-expensive interfaces available today. There is great free and low cost software to use with your sound card. There is software available to operate SSTV, PSK, RTTY, PACKET, METEOR SCATTER, and lots of other new modes.

There is good software available for tracking amateur satellites. Many satellites use digital modes for communicating.
